Food worth the 6 hour wait.

I sit at this table with my family still waiting for my food. I ordered the cheese enchiladas its truly my favorite Mexican dish and at this place they take a new life of greatness. I didn't really listen to what the rest of my table ordered but I am assuming that my youngest brother got some chicken strips (Yeah I'm ashamed too), and my middle brother I believe ordered a plain Cheese Quesidilla. I decided to walk around the restaurant a bit while I wait for my food. At some places that might seem weird but here this is kind of a tourist attraction. *I find some strange comfort in the building I say this because this building is rumored to be haunted. While I did believe in ghosts and the paranormal before my first time coming here this place gives me confidence in my belief because not only have I had an experience here but my mom and my brother had. I have such a fascination with this building that I end up just sitting in this hallway looking up this darkened staircase that greets you as you walk in. This restaurant used to be a army fort back in the 1800s and then came to be owned by a royal family. The menus tell the whole history of the building and the pictures depict the royal daughter in her wedding dress at the top of the staircase. *I sit there for a bit longer I guess I was hoping that if I sat there for long enough I would get to see a ghost just materialize in front of me. Well the short answer to that is it didn't happen. I make my way back to my table we are sitting in a room where there is a growing tree in the middle. That might not seem like that big of a deal but there is a roof above our head. The tree goes right through the roof! *I sit back down and almost on que our food comes out, and I lose myself in the best food I have ever eaten. So many flavors all blended together flawlessly. A taste that can't be duplicated.
*We are at La Placita a Mexican restaurant in Albuquerque New Mexico. To be more specific it is located inside of Old Town a tourist attraction that features Real native American jewelry being made in front of the restaurant itself.  Remember back when I said it takes me 6 hours to get my food? I wasn't lying. Me and my family drive the 6 hours to Old Town, eat, and then we leave we don't get a hotel because after we eat we might do some shopping but other than that we drive back home. *My family considers it a tradition. We do it a couple times a year but every time we go we wish that we could just stay there forever. La Placita brings my family together. Its a day long vacation an escape from the rest of the world. Food can bring people together and I feel like my family is proof of that.
We finish up our meal. We start to walk out of the building and proceed down the street stopping to look at some of the jewelry that is being sold outside. We climb back into the car and head back towards home. We don't really pack anything other than a few snacks and maybe a DVD or two for the ride there and back. *The ride back is mostly quiet most of us decide to sleep on the way back but not me. For some reason I like road trips and I just stare out the window looking at the scenery passing by. I dread coming back because it means a return to the real world. All I can think about is when i can go back next and being envious of the ghosts there. Because they get to stay there even after death.
