My Sweet Summer Full of Sweet Action.
With the feel of fall in the air, I think back about my carefree summer. Not only was it relaxing and laid-back, but I got to spend time with the people that mean the most to me in this world. Underneath the brilliant blue Colorado summer skies, we would go off on little mini-adventures exploring different parts of Denver. On one particularly beautiful summer afternoon, while walking down South Broadway I came upon the most incredible thing I’ve ever eaten. Nestled between dive bars and specialty boutiques, I discovered Salted Butterscotch ice cream from Sweet Action.
The aroma of freshly baked waffle cones wafting on the summer breeze is what first enticed us into trying Sweet Action. It is nearly impossible to resist the allure of this place if you get within smelling distance. We enter the building, getting in line behind a group of grungy, dirty hipsters waiting to order one of the many exotic creations. The chalkboard posted at the entrance reveals the incredible array (assortment) of ice cream flavors. Flavors like Silverback Honey Spice, Roasted Green Chili, and Stranahan’s Wiskey Brickle make this a difficult decision. Luckily for me, I was instantly captivated by the idea of a salted ice cream. How would the salt affect the flavor of the ice cream? Would one taste overpower the other? So, decided to find out for myself, I ordered a double-scoop of Salted Butterscotch in a waffle cone. That was one of the best decisions of my life. With my first lick of this mind-blowing concoction, with its divinely creamy texture; I knew that I had come across my newest vice. The sweetness of the butterscotch was only intensified by the salt. I feels as if it’s not exactly proper to describe a flavor of ice cream as breath-taking, but I’m not sure how else to put it. And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, I tasted the waffle cone. This homemade waffle cone, with its buttery flavor and light crispy texture was like sunshine on my tongue. I was in heaven.
